celtux 2008-03

Introduction

This is celtux, a Free Software distribution which can be run live or you can install it rapidly on your own computer. celtux is currently built using the same tools and software as sidux, which in turn is heavily based on, and binary compatible with, the sid version of Debian GNU/Linux. The differences between sidux and celtux 2008-03 versions are:

• celtux includes the localisation packages for both English and Irish. When you start the live system, the very first screen will give you an option to choose your language using the F4 key. By default the system will start in English for Ireland however you can also select Irish and American, British or Australian English from this menu.
• celtux is only available in one edition, kde-full, which provides a complete desktop software system.
• celtux defaults to using Irish debian and sidux mirrors for fetching new content.
• In many places celtux will appear instead of sidux, such as the default user and computer names on the live system.
• celtux provides the complete source's within the complete dual architecture image. This is done to ensure easy license compliance, for example in the case of an organisation like the Irish Linux User Group handing out discs, and to serve as a reminder that this entire distribution is Free Software. If you have the complete image and would like to create a smaller single architecture image file from it to use for installing on a usb stick you could use the included fll-iso-shrink.
• celtux uses insserv to provide faster startup and shutdown times. See this insserv forum thread on sidux.com for more details.

celtux was produced with pyfll revision 20331 using celtux.conf as the configuration file. fll-sources2repo and fll-add2iso were used (by the primitive build.sh) to add the sources to the iso.
